News and Updates

Since our first public performance on Memorial Day 2021, we have been very busy.  We have piped and drummed for Line of Duty Death ceremonies, firefighter funerals, the annual David Campbell Memorial honoring fallen Portland firefighters, the twenty year 9/11 remembrance at Waterfront Park, the Oregon State Fallen Firefighter ceremony, St. Patrick's Day celebrations, our fire and police retirement banquet, opening ceremonies for labor and fire service conventions, a park dedication in honor of a fallen Navy SEAL, and various other sporting and public events.  We are proud to have successfully represented our fellow Portland firefighters and IAFF Local 43 in our joint mission to honor the fallen and serve the public.

Our final performance of 2021 was the Line of Duty Death service for Portland Fire Lieutenant Jerry Richardson, who died on November 19, 2021.  The band, along with Portland Fire's Honor Guard, escorted Jerry's remains through a corridor of firefighters saluting Jerry for the last time.  We had the honor of playing Amazing Grace for our friend just after his final call was given by dispatch.  A proper farewell to a great man, this service was the epitome of why we do what we do, in order to honor the fallen and comfort the survivors.
